FAQ

Questions about IGC analysis and paragliding debriefs

Clear answers for pilots who want to understand what XCBrain does before uploading a flight.

What is XCBrain?

XCBrain is a browser-based paragliding flight analysis platform. Pilots upload an IGC file and receive a structured debrief with thermal analysis, transition insights, XC scoring, weather context, replay and progression feedback.

What is an IGC file?

An IGC file is the standard flight track file used by many varios, flight instruments and cross-country platforms. It records the GPS and altitude points that make a post-flight analysis possible.

How does XCBrain analyze a paragliding flight?

XCBrain parses the IGC track, detects phases such as climbs and glides, reviews thermals and transitions, adds scoring and weather context, then turns the data into a readable pilot debrief.

Can XCBrain analyze thermals?

Yes. XCBrain reviews thermals with context such as climb rate, altitude gain, drift, entry and exit behavior, centering quality and replay focus.

Does XCBrain calculate XC score?

XCBrain includes XC scoring context such as optimized distance and route signals where the available track data supports it. The goal is to connect scoring with the decisions in the flight.

Can I use XCBrain after a hike & fly flight?

Yes. Hike & fly flights are often especially useful to debrief because launch timing, altitude margins, valley winds and landing choices can be decisive.

Does XCBrain use weather data?

XCBrain can add historical weather context, including wind and condition signals around the flight, so the debrief is not based on track geometry alone.

Is XCBrain useful for beginner pilots?

Yes, as long as the pilot is already reviewing flights and wants to learn from them. The explanations are written to stay clear while introducing real XC vocabulary.

Is XCBrain useful for competition pilots?

Competition pilots can use XCBrain to review transitions, energy management, thermal use, key moments and scoring context after tasks or training flights.

Which languages does XCBrain support?

The app currently supports English, French and German. Italian SEO and product copy can be added later using the same translation structure.
